My keycap fell off – can I reattach it using the same parts?
In many cases, yes – if none of the parts are damaged, you can usually reattach your keycap using the same hinge and clip. However, if any small plastic pieces are cracked, bent, or missing, you may need to replace part of the mechanism for the key to stay in place securely.
If the hinge mechanism or clips appear bent, broken, or detached, the key will not stay on properly. In that case, it’s best to replace the key rather than force it back on — doing so could cause further damage to your keyboard.
We can provide individual replacement keycaps that include all the necessary parts to restore full function.
Simply email help@macreplacementkeys.com with your MacBook model number (found on the underside of your laptop) and, if possible, a photo of the missing key area. We’ll confirm exactly which part you need and arrange a replacement.
